The Fresno Stonewall Democrats officially endorsed TJ Cox and his reelection bid in California Congressional District 21. The Fresno Stonewall Democrats meet on the second Tuesday of every month. Last night’s agenda was centered around what endorsements would be made from congressional district races. The gay-centric group will take up the task of voting on any mayoral or city council candidates at next year’s January meeting.
According to Stonewall bylaws candidates seeking the club’s endorsement must apply by filling out their questionnaire. After consideration by its members candidates then must secure 60% majority vote of those in attendance of the endorsement meeting. TJ Cox (CD 21) was the only congressional district candidate who met the voting threshold. Democratic incumbent Jim Costa (CD 16) missed the endorsement threshold by one vote. Additionally, none of the Democratic challengers in CD 22 secured enough votes to secure an endorsement either.
